“Each time we convey the true value of the painful path, we are building critical hope in the person next to us.”

Who We Are

The CCR Force is a team of educators housed at the Sonoma County Office of Education. We are passionate about improving the educational experience for all stakeholders.

What We Do

The College and Career Readiness Force builds equitable pathways to agency by facilitating authentic, meaningful learning for all.

What is a Pathway Coordinator?

The Pathway Coordinator position is funded through the Strong Workforce Program. The Pathway Coordinator serves as a liaison between the K12 and community college system and seeks to “improve the performance of the K14 CTE programs” by providing on-going support and helping to develop, sustain, link, and align programs and pathways.

What is College and Career Readiness?

We believe it is our job to educated students so that they are not just eligible for graduation, they are ready for life beyond high school, whether that be college or career or some other personal venture. The college and career ready student is able to identify viable paths to a visible goal in the future and understands how to get there. He or she possesses skills and knowledge that sustain critical hope and develop personal agency.

What is a Pathway?

Pathways are intentionally designed sequential or horizontal learning experiences that provide academic, technical, and social/emotional education and supports for students. They are relevant to individual student’s lives, anchored in real world issues, and responsive to the community’s needs. There are many ways to develop pathways -- around specific CTE courses, through cross-curricular integration, or through school-wide adoption of WBL and CTE elements, for example.

What is agency?

Agency is a person’s ability to empower themselves to make choices, grow, and take ownership of their own learning. Agency is a key component of resilience and persistence in the face of life’s inevitable obstacles.

What is SWP?

The Strong Workforce Program (SWP) is an ongoing funding opportunity at both the community college and K12 level. The K12 program “is designed to support local education agencies (LEAs) in creating, improving, and expanding career technical education (CTE) courses, course sequences, programs of study, and pathways for students transitioning from secondary education to postsecondary education to living-wage employment.”
